As part of her Corporate Social Responsibility, Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company, located in Awa, Onna Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State has supported some indigenes of her host community with scholarship awards.
Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the premises of the company, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Akin Oyediran, explained that a committee was set up earlier, to select students from Awa, the host community for the scholarship awards.
According to him, beneficiaries the secondary and tertiary levels of the scholarship were selected based on intellectual merit.
In his remarks at the event, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, mentioned that the scholarship awards were meant to encourage and challenge students from the host community to aim for academic excellence.
He urged the beneficiaries to consider themselves privileged to have been selected, and should, therefore, justify the benevolence of the company by excelling in their studies.
Responding on behalf of the chiefs who attended the event, Chief Emmanuel Etuk commended Jubilee Syringe Company for demonstrating the character of a good corporate citizen to the host community.
The cheque presentation ceremony was also witnessed by a cross section of Awa people, including students and parents of the awardees.
