…More projects underway

The people of Eket Local Government Area expressed their excitement over the numerous impactful projects executed in their local government area by the state government through the Interministerial Direct Labour Coordinating Committee.

The people expressed their emotions through the various persons who spoke in representative capacity during the inauguration of the reconstructed dinning hall, Assembly Hall and fencing of hostel in Girls High School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket.

The Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Akan Tommey, while welcoming Governor Udom Emmanuel, expresssed the gratitude of his people for the completion of 25 life touching projects, while 13 are ongoing in the Local Government Area, during this period of economic recession.

Presenting the projects, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Interministerial matters, Prince Sampson Idiong informed that the Governor had directed the committee to allocate almost all intervention projects to education, in line with the administration’s declaration of emergency on education. He assured of the quality of the work delivered and thanked the Governor for his support, which was critical to the timely delivery of the projects.

Speaking on behalf of the Elders, Gen. Anthony Etukudo (Rtd.) appreciated the Governor for not forgetting Eket. He stated that the intervention of the Governor through the Interministerial
Project was very strategic as the projects are critical to their various sectors, especially education.

The Paramount Ruler, Edidem E.C.D. Abia commended the Governor for always giving a listening ear to the demands of the people. He expressed optimism that the ongoing projects will be expeditiously completed and other strategic interventions undertaken.

The Member representing Eket in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence assured that the Governor will complete all the projects he has started in Eket. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed by the committee on behalf of government.

The Chapter Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Eket, Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Government produced by his party. He said that the “Governor has made campaigning for the party an easy task in Eket. His works will campaign for us. We are sure that by the time he comes for the commissioning of the mega road infrastructure and other definitional projects, there will be no need for the party to campaign here in Eket.”

The Governor who was represented by Rt. Hon. Frank Archibong, Honourable Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs expressed delight at gratitude expressed by Eket indigenes over the numerous efforts of government to redefine the landscape of the
Local Government Area. He promised to look into the complete fencing of the girls school to protect the students from unwanted persons with predatory disposition.
