The meeting which was presided by HE the Governor, had in attendance HE, the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Head of the Civil Service, Commissioners and Special Adviser, commenced at 11:00am after the rendering of the national and state anthems and an opening prayer worded by HC- Rural Development & Cooperatives, Mrs Enobong Mbobo.

HE the Governor in his opening remarks condemned the attacks on security assets within the state and informed of steps taken to tackle the anomaly.

DECISIONS

  1. A comprehensive mid term analysis and milestone assessment of all ministries was undertaken.
  2. To tackle the rise in sexual and gender based violence, Council Upgraded the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response unit to a full department in the Ministry of Justice. The department will collaborate with the Ministries of Women Affairs & Social welfare and Health and other critical agencies.
    Council charged the respective ministries to ensure that rape and other related crimes are tackled effectively.
  3. Council directed that School farms should be established in all Public Secondary, Technical and Primary Schools in the state. Additionally, The ministry of Education was directed to make Agricultural Science a compulsory subject in all public secondary,technical and primary schools. Agricultural science teachers to be recruited and posted to all schools.
  4. All youth corps members posted to the state are to be assigned to schools to teach.

HE the Governor indicated that he will host The Governor Speaks(a media interaction aired across media platforms) on Friday, to field questions on different topics.
